What is an AFC Caregiver?

An AFC Caregiver is an individual, who may be a relative or a loved one, that lives with the member and provides up to 24-hour assistance with daily life! For many of us, we are already living and caring for a loved one. This can be a very challenging and sometimes very expensive undertaking. But now, with the assistance of MetroCare of Springfield a Caregiver can get paid for doing what they already do, and that’s taking care of one or more of their loved ones at home!

With your help- your loved one, neighbor or friend will be able to remain at home AND in the community. Your love and care will help your loved one stay out of hospitals, rehab facilities and nursing homes!

To qualify for services you and your loved one will have to meet a few qualifications, including:

  • MassHealth eligibility
  • your loved one’s need for assistance in daily activities such as bathing, toileting, eating, etc.
  • you and your loved one must live together in a qualified setting

In addition, a caregiver – like yourself- can care for as many as 3 individuals (pending MetroCare of Springfields evaluation and determination). This means that you can take care of more than one loved one in your or their home!

MetroCare is also recruiting, hiring and training non-family caregivers who are qualified and able to take care of one or more individuals in their own or their member’s home. A “non-Family” caregiver is an individual who takes care of 1 to 3 adults in their own home or in their member’s home. That caregiver will provide care to up to 3 individuals for up to 24-hours per day. This means that you will get paid for all 3 members!

MetroCare of Springfield is proud to provide local assistance, training and payment to our family of over 100+ caregivers and staff!

*All caregiver and non-family caregiver placements are subject to MetroCare’s approval and qualifications.
